A temp agency can help you find new staff. But first, it’s important to know: what does a temporary worker cost? The costs vary depending on the agency.

The costs you pay are expressed in a conversion factor. In other words, the conversion factor determines the amount you pay to the temp agency. This is because, in addition to the gross hourly wage, the temp agency takes care of everything that needs to be arranged for the temporary worker. For example, Talent Hunters covers employer risks like sickness or absence and also handles administrative tasks such as paying the salary.

The conversion factor is determined by us based on the scarcity of the requested job profile. Additionally, the costs may differ per temporary worker, per position, and the duration of the assignment.

This leads to a simple calculation to determine the hourly rate you pay to a temp agency: Gross hourly rate of temporary worker = Gross hourly wage of temporary worker x Conversion factor

Example of the cost of a temporary worker per hour:

The temporary worker’s gross hourly wage: €15

The conversion factor: 2.5

The costs you pay for the temporary worker are €15 x 2.5 = €37.50 per hour worked, excluding VAT.

Are the costs of a temporary worker higher than hiring your own staff?

Although a temporary worker can sometimes be more expensive than hiring your own staff, this is not always the case. Own staff brings more employer risks, such as paying during sickness, severance pay, and costs for training and payroll administration. These financial risks often make hiring a temporary worker financially more attractive.
